The Federal Government has signed a 30-year concession agreement with Aero Alliance for the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu. The deal, approved by the Federal Executive Council on July 31, 2025, aims to modernize aviation infrastructure through public-private partnerships.

Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, described the signing as the culmination of a "painstaking and transparent" process. He assured that workers' rights are protected, with no retrenchments or changes to employment terms.

The concession is part of the government's broader aviation reform agenda, seeking to attract private investment, improve infrastructure, and boost regional connectivity. Two outstanding issues - security charges and the financial model - will be resolved soon.
