A brutal incident has shaken the Umuogboagu Community in Enugu-Ezike, Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State, as kidnappers struck last night, killing a father and abducting his wife. The victim, identified as Eshua da Agu, reportedly lost his life after being kidnapped alongside his wife.
The community is reeling from the attack, with residents calling for increased security measures to combat the rising tide of kidnappings in the area. The incident has sparked outrage and concern, with many questioning the government's priorities, particularly in light of the ongoing APC e-registration exercise.
"This is a tragic reminder that insecurity is a real threat in our community," said a local resident. "We appeal to the government to take urgent action to protect us."
The Enugu State Government has yet to comment on the incident, but security experts have emphasized the need for community involvement and cooperation with law enforcement agencies to tackle the issue.
The incident follows a string of kidnappings in the region, including the abduction of three Nigerian soldiers and over 30 civilians in January 2025.
